Race Details
The Swim
Starting waves will be allocated based on predicted 400m swim times, which will be collected during registration. We will be aiming to keep lane traffic low, dependent on how many entries we receive.

The first wave will begin at 7pm.

Each competitor will need to complete 14 30m lengths, for a total of 420m in the swim. You will be required to count your own laps.

Once the swim is complete, you'll exit the pool via the fire exit and proceed to the transition area. This is the small patch of grass outside the pool.

Here you'll don your shoes and head off onto the run.

The Run
There will be some run marshals along the course at key points, but being familiar with the route or the area is helpful.

Leaving the pool, we turn left and head onto the roadside, heading out of the village, crossing the main road before reaching the railway bridge.

After a little downhill passing the David Mellor cutlery shop we cross back over the main road again and head down the Harper Lees public footpath.

The footpath crosses a number of cattle grids - it's usually easier to take the gates at the side - until it reaches a farm where we take a slight right and switch to grass.

The grassy field takes us to some woods, keep an eye out for low branches! In the woods we take a left up a steep climb - this part can be quite muddy and slippery.

The climb continues up through a narrow gate, and then there is a left turn to cross the railway once again on a small bridge, followed by another small gate as we continue uphill.

This opens onto a slightly larger path, where we'll then hang left onto a hard-packed double-track lane that continues to rise until it eventually leads us back to the main road into Hathersage.

Enjoy the fast non-technical descent on the footway next to the road, turning into Crossland road when you arrive back into the village. Left at the bottom and then it's a final 100m sprint to the finish line at the pool's driveway.
