STC crew prepare for bike ride

Come and join us

Over the past two decades, Sheffield Triathlon Club has established itself as one of the leading triathlon clubs in the region. Triathlon is said to the fastest growing sport in the UK and we’ve certainly seen a dramatic increase in numbers, to the point where we regularly attract between 150 and 200 members each year.

Our members span a broad age range, with the youngest being just 5 years old and the oldest being 70. We have a similarly wide range of experience and ability, from those attracted to the sport to keep fit, to those who go on to achieve elite status within the sport. Every year, a small but significant number of our members qualify to represent GB in European and World Age-Group Championships.

The club holds regular training sessions in all three disciplines, and we make a considerable effort to provide training for all abilities. Whether you’re new to the sport, or whether you’re an experienced athlete, there will be training sessions that are right for you. If you wish to discuss anything about the club, or get advice about your training, just get in touch with one of us via the club contact page.

In addition to the regular training sessions, the club organises a series of informal races throughout the year, starting with swim/run biathlons in the winter months, run/bike/run duathlons in the spring, and a number of short swim/run biathlons based around the outdoor pool in Hathersage in the summer months. Hathersage is also the venue for our major open event, the Hathersage Hilly Triathlon .

It’s not all work and no play however; the club organises regular social events, dinners and presentation evenings throughout the year.

Joining couldn’t be easier. Please click here to go to our membership website where your details can be entered online and membership processed from your computer in less than five minutes.

Alternatively simply download a membership form here and send it off to me (contact details on the form) together with your subscription. Our membership year starts on the 1st of January, and the annual subscription is £32.95. Note that a reduced subscription of £17 is available to students and juniors who are under 19 on the 31st of December in that year. I will endeavour to get your membership card and welcome details to you as soon as possible after receipt. We do ask that members present their current membership card to the respective coach when attending training sessions.

A note on membership fees:

The membership fee has been increased this year for the first time in over a decade of the club being established. The increase is a result of the cost of hiring training venues going up in the intervening years and as the sessions are put on regardless of attendance, the full cost of hire has been absorbed by the club. Consequently if a session has poor attendance then the sessions run at a loss with the balance being made up from club funds. The two pools we use have increased their fees to us again this year.
We would like to continue to support the training at the venues we use without compromising the viability of the club, hence the need to increase the membership fee.  Thankyou for your support.
